Diary Entry – Be Present

I made it to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend finish line and lost a pound and a half in the process. I imagined myself like a soldier scanning the kitchen horizon and carefully stepping around any high calorie land minds. Ironically, I was stunned by the amount of food my extended family was eating. (Note to self- that would have been me using both hands to balance the extra large, reinforced paper plate reaching for the buttered roll and brownie on my way to the table.) My menu included Turkey & vegetables but I treated myself to a tablespoon of dressing & a teaspoon of gravy savoring every morsel. Why does food have to taste so good? In the end, staying in the present moment, avoiding mindless grazing, kept me on the healthy path. Until next time ….
