Happy New Year! To be honest with you, I thought 2017 would never get here. 2016 was like a race with no finish line. It was filled with winding, rugged, uphill challenges coupled with hairpin turns, injuries and loss. We could all use a breather after its lesson on endurance.
Looking ahead we can assess what worked or didn’t work for us, readjust our attitudes and perspectives and move forward by taking ownership of ourselves. In his article 7 Creative Ways to Prepare for the New Year, Jeffrey Shaw notes that, “Owning who you are requires bravery, authenticity, and transparency.” Bravery comes in to play when you stop worrying about what anyone else is thinking about you. Authenticity is revealed when you learn to embrace yourself for who you are and not for who you think you need to be. And finally, transparency comes with openness, vulnerability and self-acceptance. Shaw further claims, “If you follow these requirements, you unlock your own awesomeness! People can only recognize your awesomeness when you yourself acknowledge its existence.”
There is no time like the present. Run this 2017 race for yourself, as yourself. Be the original you were created to be leaving any baggage behind at the starting line. On your mark, get set, GO!
The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.
